Lisa Jean Helps is a graduate of the UBC Creative Writing Department (BFA, 2000) and of UBC Law (2003).
She has written dozens of articles for the Advocate, Bar Talk, the Canadian Bar Association magazine, and publications of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia, WiCCD (Women In Canadian Criminal Defence) and Continuing Legal Education.
Lisa’s poetry has appeared in the Vancouver Review, the Buzzer, and the Ubyssey and her creative non-fiction written under a pen name has appeared in anthologies across North America.
Lisa thanks the Real Vancouver Writers’ Series for their commitment to emerging artists and is thrilled to share her poetry after a twenty-year hiatus.
