About Real Vancouver

The Real Vancouver Writers’ Series is a curated literary arts reading series that celebrates world-class writers from Vancouver and beyond. We organize four to six readings per year and often collaborate with other local or national arts and culture organizations.

Real Vancouver was created in February 2010 and made it’s debut in the Perel Gallery on 100 block West Hastings Street during the Olympic Winter Games of that year.

The Series, though originally intended to last only throughout the 2010 Olympic Games, has gone on to host over 100 writers from across Canada.

Real Vancouver is a volunteer-powered organization and currently all proceeds from any of our events goes to future programming and paying writers.

In 2014 Real Vancouver became a registered non-profit society and developed a Board of Directors who will help to shape a new stage of growth.

We are looking into all available funding channels that will help us to take Real Vancouver to the next level.

In the past we have partnered with many respected literary organizations from across the country, such as Griffin Poetry Trust, The Literary Press Group, Frontier College, W2 Community Media Arts, and many excellent Canadian publishers.
